A Mentler Methode Lab

Bridgman was classically trained in the Renaissance tradition, his diagrammatic drawings come from his intense study of the Renaissance Masters especially Michelangelo.

No one understands George Brandt Bridgman better than Maester Mentler. He has spent thousands of hours studying his process and has made it his own. This Lab will break down Bridgman and show you the method behind his madness.

  • Balance: The distribution of masses in relation to the line of gravity.
  • Rhthym: The gestural energy that puts life into Life Drawing.
  • Interlocking: The articulation of muscle groups what Bridgman refers to as Wedging.
  • Disegno: The distribution of masses. Assembling the human form.
  • Gestalt: The distribution of masses, the whole is something other the the sum of its parts.
  • Movement: The Torso Trapezium; Tip, Tilt, Twist and Turn.
  • Aspects: Comparative measurement based, on angles, alignments, and axis
  • Navigation: Driving all the horses at once.

Mentler Methode Labs are streamlined versions of his standard workshop lectures and demos.

• The Maester will demonstrate and pontificate from 10:30 To 12:30
• 12:30 to 1:45 Lunch break
• 1:15 to 4:15 Attendees work from a live modeor plaster casts.

Please bring a notebook and a writing instrument to take notes during the demonstrations. We have a fridge and microwave in case you bring your lunch, or we pick up food from La Spiga.
